What is
IR35

Put simply, IR35 is legislation aimed at ensuring that contracted, or off-payroll, workers are accurately classified for tax purposes.

Introduced by HMRC in 2000, IR35 aims to distinguish ‘genuine contractors’ from ‘disguised employees’.

A ‘disguised employee’ is one that supplies services to clients via an intermediary (such as a limited company) but who would otherwise be an employee if the intermediary was not used.

Preparation is Key

Then, complete a comprehensive risk assessment to establish your exposure to IR35, and to determine if any changes to processes, contracts and working practices are required to achieve compliance. Apply a duty of care in making accurate determinations then make sure that the entire labour supply chain is aware, understands and acts on the determinations you have made.
