On Sunday 5 May, eight RedRock employees are taking to the streets of Bristol for the city's annual 10k race, each with their own motivations.

Last year, RedRock Consulting raised an amazing £2,000 for The Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children's Hospital charity, by running the Bristol 10k. It's a charity that is close to our hearts here at RedRock - one that truly makes a difference to our city and its people.

The Grand Appeal has been saving lives and supporting sick children and their families in our city since 1995. More than 100,000 patients are cared for every year at the Hospital, and The Grand Appeal's funding is vital to the work they do. So far, more than £50 million has been raising, £14,000 of which has been contributed by RedRock Consulting.

The Bristol 10k is an annual event, so with this year's race fast approaching we decided what better way to continue raising money for such a great cause than by challenging ourselves to beat last year's fundraising efforts and go one step further?

Eight of our team will be taking to the streets of the city this weekend, having prepared and trained for weeks in the build up. Each runner has their own motivations and their own reasons for running and being part of our fundraising efforts, so we asked the team: "why are you getting involved?"

"My family is among the thousands that have been directly supported by The Grand Appeal when we have been in a horrible situation. I know first-hand what a little bit of time and some fundraising can do for the children and families who need it most. Personally, we can't thank The Grand Appeal enough for everything they have done for us and other families like us, so anything we can do as a company to support them, and any donations we can raise, go a long way to making a huge difference."
Phred Steer, Director

"I'm doing the Bristol 10K because I want to be a part of the success RedRock have every year raising money for such an amazing charity. That's my main motivation, but it's also a great opportunity to get my running shoes on and build my fitness up."
Luke Mallorie, Junior Resourcer

"I'm looking to beat my personal best, and what better way to do it than as part of a team that is raising money for a great cause?"
Sean Harkness, Consultant

"It will be an amazing experience to be part of a charity that truly makes a difference to the children of Bristol and their families. It'll also be a great personal achievement for me!"

"We're running on behalf of a great charity, and it's a good opportunity to get a new personal best on the streets of Bristol. It'll be good fun running with my colleagues, and hopefully there are plenty of RedRockers who aren't running there to cheer us on."
Alex Wilkins, Resourcer

Anything that you can give will help us to beat our fundraising target of £2,000, as well as supporting The Grand Appeal continue to carry out the life-changing work they do every single day. You can donate by visiting our JustGiving page, and any amount will be great appreciated.

Best of luck to #TeamRedRock, and to all the other runners who are preparing for the run!
